UNFPA workshop for the Ministry of Health, Sierra Leone

Pamela with workshop participants
I had a fantastic week in Sierra Leone (28th May to 3rd June) to co-facilitate a UNFPA 'Procurement and Logistics' training workshop with Karen Rasmussen for the Ministry of Health. The workshop even earned a mention in the national press!

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of Drugs and Medical Supplies, Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Mr. Bassie Turay, the Deputy Director of Drugs and Supplies, Mr.Jack Lansana, and the UNFPA country representative for Sierra Leone, Madam Ratidzai Ndlovu. Procurement officers responsible for health commodities came from various institutions including the Procurement Unit in the Ministries of Health and Sanitation, and Defense and the National Procurement Authority. I was so encouraged to exchange knowledge with participants who were so engaged and keen to learn.

My Sierra Leone trip ended with a beautiful reunion and a surprise beautiful breakfast prepared by my former UNICEF friends Dorothy, another Dorothy and Farajah! Wonderful ladies…..thank you for the friendship and hospitality.

  1. It was a great pleasure to have Pam on board for our Sierra Leone workshop. Apart from her extensive experience Pam's engagement is genuine and this comes across clearly to participants. Her knowledge of the country was also an asset in placing the context during the various sessions.

  2. Ah! The workshop could have never come at a better time than this. The sincerity and passion in sharing knowledge and expertise exhibited by the facilitors cannot be over emphasized. My mind was totally opened to new horizons by the richness of the stuff we learned. Pam, on board the training workshop, was just an exceptional, passionate, great and inspirational tutor. The Central Medical Stores - MoHS/Sierra Leones will for ever be grateful for your contribution to shaping the careers of it's members of Staff.

  3. It was nice having Pam back in Sierra Leone to share her experience on Logistics and Supply Chain Management with us. All her sessions were on point and have really helped. The planning session really helped me and the office in general as we were able to conduct two different nationwide distributions simultaneously and they both turned out well.
Pam was really exceptional in her deliveries. Hope to have her back again soon.
